Seaside through time workshop- Reception, Year 1 and 2

Kingfishers and Red Kites were joined on Thursday by a Woodstock museum leader, who arrived with a box of amazing artefacts related to our Big Question- Oh I DO Like to Be Beside the Seaside! Do You?

The workshop was entitled ‘Have seaside holidays changed?’. We concluded that yes, they have! The children enjoyed an imaginary ride on a charabanc before experiencing aspects of the seaside in Victorian times and the 1930s. Also, we had an opportunity to learn new knowledge about seaside entertainment in the past, the varied way people dressed on the beach and we were fortunate enough to be able to handle first hand sources and artefacts from the past. What a real treat! A great ‘wow’ activity to launch our learning about the seaside.
