Recpetion, Year 1 and Year 2 visit Harcourt Arboretum

The day dawned blustery and a little rainy, however this did not dampen our spirits as we arrived at Harcourt Arboretum, full of excitement. For our reception children, it was our first school trip, so excitement stakes were high. We engaged in two fantastic activities. Kingfishers began by learning about Andy Goldsworthy and created some magnificent sculptures inspired by spirals, layering, lines and stacks. We made excellent use of the natural treasures of the seasons. The children worked with purpose and enthusiasm. Following a delicious lunch sheltered underneath an amazing fir tree, we engaged in a tutor led activity- ‘Amazing Autumn’. Harcourt Arboretum is the perfect place to explore this treasured season. We learnt about some of the amazing trees that make the arboretum their home, we made magical natural crowns and played a fun squirrel hunt game.

As ever, the children behaved impeccably and were a credit to our school. A wonderful day enjoyed by all.
