Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Visit Millets Falconry Centre

The gloomy weather did not dampen our day at Millets Falconry Centre, which was linked to our CCC big question- Is light important? Our focus on owls was enhanced by a talk from Harry and Katie, who shared lots of facts about owls. We met 3 different types of owls, each with fascinating characters. It was a great pleasure to be so close to these wonderful birds.
After our talk, we enjoyed exploring the centre and learning about other creatures to be found there. The children loved the vultures, falcons and yet more owls. We were even entertained by meerkats and racoons!
Following a fun packed lunchtime, we encountered the real awe and wonder of a fantastic flying display. The birds in the display swooped low over our heads, causing much excitement amongst the audience.
A fabulous day was enjoyed by all. It was wonderful to receive feedback from parents:  “My daughter has come home today and hasn’t stopped talking about the Millets trip and how brilliant it was. She’s been reciting all the facts and telling us all about it. Wanted to let you know and say thank you for taking them.”
