KS2 Forest School

All the children have made a great start to their new year of regular Forest School activities. It’s been lovely to see how the children have really started to think about what they want to get out of our sessions and are now regularly arriving with a plan and a purposeful idea for the whole session in the woods.

We have spent time fungi hunting, bug spotting, making rope swings and dens, whittling or swinging in a hammock and cooking on the fire. Through all of these activities they are learning to take responsibility for themselves and the world around them, and to be resourceful and creative, resilient and persevering – life skills that we all need. Above all, they have enjoyed just being children and playing!

Thank you to everyone who has supported our weekly forest school sessions – without you it would not be possible to do so much – and thank you also to last year’s leavers for their fantastic gift of all the kit that we have so much enjoyed using.

I very much look forward to seeing how the children continue to develop their ideas as we move into winter – it is an absolute privilege to work with such a wonderful group of children in an equally wonderful setting at Peagle Wood.
