The weather was kind to us for our first Welly Wednesday of this academic year. Kingfisher class focussed on the wonders of autumn in and around out school. We began the day by learning about why leaves lose their colour in Autumn, then we identified trees and their leaves in our school grounds. Of course we wanted to make excellent use of our collections, and had great fun creating our names or initials using leaves.
Following this we became autumn detectives on the village green, comparing more trees and their leaves (the oak and the red oak… interesting!), then made our very own autumnal journey sticks. A trip to the park concluded our autumn experience.
The afternoon saw outdoor PE with Super Sam, followed by a focus on hedgehogs and squirrels. Our art work was inspired by our learning about leaves.
