Jupiter and Earth visit Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre

‘If you are looking for a journey of learning and discovery about nature, then you must visit Sutton Courtenay Outdoor Education Centre.’ James, Year 2

The rest of Earth and Jupiter Class couldn’t agree more! Our day began with an opportunity to explore the woodland area and the sound garden, where the children engaged in challenging climbing, balancing and musical plan. Our guides, Charlotte and Charley were patient, well informed and created an engaging day of a variety of outdoor activities related to the workshop ‘Sensational Summer’. The children explored the seasons through a meadow treasure hunt and net sweeping to collect living creatures, which could then be examined using visualising equipment. We were invited to intensify listening skills using listening crystals. The Pollination Game was a class favourite, where all pupils had the opportunity to be either a pollen providing flower or a busy collecting bee. BUZZZZZZ! The children were delighted to make their own paper pot and sow a seed, which they brought home. Our fabulous day was concluded with an opportunity to handle a tickly beetle larvae, which our children bravely enjoyed.
