Although I now live in Oxford, I grew up in Combe and my three children went all the way through the school while we were living in the village. I am also a teacher myself, of English at secondary level, so I have a strong interest in education. I spent several years on the FOCS committee, one as Chair, and am delighted to be helping with another side of the school serving on the governing body.

I joined the Governing Board in June 2022 as a Foundation Governor appointed by the Diocesan Board of Education. I have lived with my family in Combe since 2016. My two children currently attend Combe School and they love the stimulating and safe educational environment that it provides. I also believe the School plays a fundamentally important part in Combe village life. I have a career background in commercial law and want to make a contribution of my time to support the running of the school in any way I can.

I am a long-standing teacher at Combe Primary School and I am privileged to be the Deputy Headteacher. I see my role as staff governor as supporting progression of the school, challenging where appropriate and supplying knowledge of fundamental roles within the school. The school and its stakeholders are at the heart of my daily practice. I have been teaching Year 1 and 2 here for approximately 20 years, but am equipped to teach across all age ranges. I find it a lively, enjoyable and purposeful environment to work in.

As the Rector of Combe and Stonesfield churches I became a governor in May 2021. I have loved working in schools since I was ordained in 1990, and have had the privilege of serving as a governor in both rural and city primary schools. As well as parish ministry, I was a university chaplain for eighteen years. I am committed to supporting education for all and to building links between the school, the church and the wider community. My wife and I have two grown up daughters, and a grandson.

I joined the Governing Body in April 2018. My two children recently finished their time at Combe School, where they progressed and thrived throughout their primary education, benefiting greatly from the school’s positive and nurturing environment. Professionally, I work as a Senior Electronics Engineer in the Department of Physics at the University of Oxford, with a strong passion for STEM education. My analytical and planning skills can support evidence-based decisions in school governance, such as performance analysis or resource allocation. I am committed to working with the staff and fellow governors to ensure the school provides a safe, enjoyable, and stimulating environment where all children can thrive and reach their full potential.

I have two sons, one in secondary school and the second in Year 6. I became a governor simply because I wanted to try and help and support this brilliant little school, in whatever way I can. I work in Internet security as Director of Sales Engineering and I’m also a director and trustee of Combe Community Hub.
