Gardening
We are working hard on developing our school gardens. Following the installation of a new surface in the Red Kites outdoor area earlier this year, we have replanted some existing beds as well as adding plants to some additional areas. We’ve also added a small cold frame to help with the planting of seeds.
In the KS2 garden, we have installed four large raised beds, which the Year 6 have filled with compost and have planted a range of vegetables, such as carrots, sweetcorn, radishes and courgettes. In the greenhouse, we are growing tomatoes, cucumbers and cucamelons! Thank you to FoCS for supporting this project.
Forest School
We greatly value the opportunity to take our learning outdoors. One of the ways we do this is ‘Forest School’. We are lucky enough to border some forest on the Blenheim Estate and have been given permission to use the site for our Forest School. The sessions give the children the opportunity to learn more about their local environment. During the sessions they have:
- Relaxed in hammocks
- Walked the trapeze
- Whittled
- Lit fires
- Built dens
- Measured and estimated the heights of trees
- Identified mini-beasts and leaves
