We greatly value the opportunity to take our learning outdoors. One of the ways we do this is ‘Forest School’. We are lucky enough to border some forest on the Blenheim Estate and have been given permission to use the site for our Forest School. In 2018-2019 the children in Year 1, 2, 5 and 6 had regular Forest School sessions with Level 3 trained Forest School Leaders. So far this year, Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 have had fortnightly Forest School sessions in their year groups. The sessions give the children the opportunity to learn more about their local environment. During the sessions they have:

  • Relaxed in hammocks
  • Walked the trapeze
  • Whittled
  • Lit fires
  • Built dens
  • Measured and estimated the heights of trees
  • Identified mini-beasts and leaves
