On Friday, Swallows ventured down to the Evenlode. The weather, though unpredictable, managed to stay sunny so we ate our lunch by the riverbank. The children learned about native and invader species of crayfish. After this, we did some pond dipping. Plenty of creatures were found including minnows, blood worms, water hoglice and water boatmen. We sketched the meanders, did some map reading and even tested the water to find out about the concentration of nitrates! A brilliant day and we look forward to our next and final session.
