A big welcome to our new Red Kites Class!
Welcome back to existing Combe School families and an especially warm welcome to those families joining us for the first time. We hope you will be very happy here with us.
This year we currently have a mixed class of 15 Reception children and 8 Year Ones. The children have already settled well into the routines of the day and are supported in their learning by Mrs McKechnie and Mrs Martin.
Our Big Question this term is “Is there only one kind of Treasure?” and we will be exploring what this means to us. The Year Ones in both classes all follow the same curriculum whilst the Reception children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. This means that the Reception children will be learning through play with some adult-led input and activities plus observations to inform our planning. There will also be times, where appropriate, when the whole class is taught together.
Our P.E day this term will be on a Monday and P.E kit should be worn to school on this day. P.E will take place outside.
Year Ones will have Mathletics homework (online) each week and spellings to practise on Readiwriter (also online) weekly.
Our aim is that children read five times a week at home, certificates are given out for reading “milestones” and Mrs Joannou’s “Shake Shop” was also a great incentive!
Thank you for all your support, we are so happy to see your children back at school!
