Swallows Class are back and cheerfully raring to go for their final term in primary school, which is already whizzing by! For our lovely Year 6s, this marks their final term at Combe School and I hope that they continue to thrive and find ways to celebrate this momentous milestone.
Swallows have got going with their new Big Question: Are There Any Discoveries Still To Be Made? and have dived with trademark enthusiasm into exploring ancient Egypt! They have created some fabulous hieroglyphics, designed projects about the rituals of the afterlife, and are learning about the gods and goddesses. Our journey through ancient Egypt will be supported by our new class novel and, although I am sad to finish Michael Morpurgo’s Alone On A Wide Wide Sea, I am excited to begin The Phoenix Code by Helen Moss.
As always, there are plenty of exciting things happening this term, including a day’s sailing for Year 6, a trip to the Ashmolean, IMPS and, of course, the long-awaited residential at Woodlands. Fingers crossed for some sunshine please! It promises to be a great week away.
As part of our provision, new spellings will be given every Monday on Oxford Owl with an informal assessment on the following Monday. PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I am so lucky to have a host of keen readers in the class who are hungrily devouring a plethora of exciting and varied books. Reading 5 nights a week is a challenge well-received by Swallows who are gaining both their prizes and stickers.
