Welcome back to the Summer Term! It hardly seems possible that Reception are entering their final term of their first year at school; it doesn’t seem long ago that they started their journey at Combe Primary School!

This term our Big Question is “Oh I do like to be beside the seaside! Do you?” We have already started to explore what seaside holidays were like in the past, having been inspired by a workshop led by Sonja from Oxfordshire Heritage Museums. We are discovering something of what life used to be like in Victorian times and have learnt about Queen Victoria herself…did you know she had 9 children and 40 grandchildren? The children were amazed!

This term we have welcomed Miss Wingrove, who is in her final term of her PGCE and will be with us for her final Teaching Practice.

The Year Ones continue to work alongside their peers for their daily Phonics lessons and also join them for their PE , RE, Computing, PSHE, Music and a lovely Continuous Provision session each week. PE sessions this term take place on a Thursday for all and the Year Ones have another session on a Friday.

Homework is set on a Friday via EdShed and Google Classroom and all children are encouraged to read 5 times a week.

Show and Tell continues to take place on Friday mornings for each group and Reception children enjoy their sessions of Relax Kids with Mrs Martin in the afternoon.

We are looking forward to a great term of learning and as always thank you for all your hard work and support.
