Pheasants Class Play the Spoons!

We had the best time when Jo came over. Here is what we did…

When Jo came over to teach us the spoons we had a wonderful time. Here is what we did…

We did a warm up where Jo played the drums while singing and we did the actions to her singing to warm our bodies up. Then Jo gave us spoons to play with. There were plastic spoons, wood spoons, connected spoons and metal spoons. We took turns using the different spoons and then after break we went into the hall to practise ‘Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner’. We played with spoons, washboards and we sang it. Even though in the real performance we didn’t beep the horn from the olden day cars, we did in the practise and it was very loud!!

We also made our own rhymes to Lambeth Walk. It had to be in time with the music otherwise it wouldn’t sound very good. After lunch we started getting ready for the performances. The school watched first, then parents. When we had finished, we bowed and then the parents left. That’s the end of the best day ever!

The workshop was delivered in partnership with Oxford Contemporary Music. You can view our performance here:
